Date Deceased: April-02-1988
Age at Death: 37
Cause of Death: Boating accident on Lake Okeechobee
Classmate City: Fort Pierce
Classmate State: FL
Classmate Country: USA
Survived By: His wife, Christie Cooper Briggs; a son, Justin Edward Briggs; his parents Dr. and Mrs. James O. Briggs of Fort Pierce; two sisters, Dianne Goshorn of Orange City, Fla., and Nancy Zehler of Hungington Beach, Calif. (This was as of 1988)

Eddie and I had know each other since 1965 as a next door neighbor, and then he moved from next door to one street over behind my house. Eddie was a good friend, a best friend, he was a groomsman at my wedding in 1972. He respected everyone and most definitely showed respect even when he did not receive respect from another person. I have never seen him ranting and raving mad and if he was, he sure did not show it. He was dependable, very loyal, and did things for folks that may not know who had done them. He worked hard no matter what the task at hand, like the time he and I work on a 1957 two door Chevy removing the engine. The chain hoist chain had misaligned and with a screw diver aligning each link he was determined 'that engine is coming out'. We succeeded with a four hour job turning into an eight hour job. I loved him like a brother. I moved from Fort Pierce in 1976 and we lost contact unfortunately, but he was, and forever will be my best friend.

I had the privilege of knowing Ed throughout my school days. Ed and I played little league bseball together. What great memories I have because of Ed. He always proved to be a best friend even when chips were down. with 2 out and bases loaded Ed stepped up to the plate, our go to guy. What a drive to right field! Ed drove in all runners and we ended up winning and moving on to the Alll star game! Ed was one of my closest and best friends and I will never forget him. May you rest with God through eternity!    Jerry Graham
