Tim Taylor

He passed into eternal rest on Saturday, December 20,2014 at 11:55PM, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.  Mr. Taylor was born on November 10,1949, to the late Elizabeth A. Slay and Floyd G. Taylor of Ft. Pierce.  After attending St. Anastasia Catholic School and graduating from DAn McCarty High School, Mr. Taylor attended Indian River Community College.  He became a law enforcement officer and crime scene investigative specialist, with a degree in Criminology from Florida State University in Tallahassee.  For the past 15 years, Mr. Taylor served as Corrections Officer and Asst. Jail Administrator of the Putnam Co (TN) Sheriff's Dept.  Prior to that, had also served in the Tallahassee Police Department, the Florida Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Intelligence and the FBI in Washington DC.  After relocating to the Middle Tennessee area in the mid 1970's, he was the owner/proprietor of Cookeville Camera Center, and was an accomplished photographer, as well.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Beaty Taylor; son Zachery Alan Taylor of Cookeville, TN; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Heather and Martin Walker of Browns Mills, NJ; grandchildren Bryleigh and Makenna Walker ; brother, James A. (Blinky) Taylor of Ft. Pierce, FL, brother-in-law, Bill Shreckengost of Cookeville, TN, stepbrother, John Murello of Valley Stream, NY, and maternal aunts, Elodie Slay Tabor McReady (Port St. Lucie), Margie Slay Ernst (Melbourne) and Lanette Slay Egers (Ft. Pierce) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins from the Buchanan, Egers, Ernst, Holden, Mauck, Shreckengost, Slay, Taylor and Triay families.  His maternal family legacy can be viewed at the Seven Gables House in Ft. Pierce, as the grandson of its former owners, R. E. and Marguerite (Combel) Slay.  In addition to his parents, and stepfather, Coney Murello, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his brother , Robert Floyd Taylor and sisters, Shirley Taylor Shreckengost, and Aveline (Jerry) Taylor Schwebke.

Funeral services for Ft. Pierce native will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23,2014 at the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, TN.  Bro.
